ALL the Colors

Craftopia lighting was a unique lighting design project for DCLighting. The entire stage was highlighted with an explosion of colors, all of which needed to be balanced and softened. We built an experience where the audience would feel like they were inside of a cotton candy machine, while accenting it with colors that complimented the set.

Reflecting the Rainbow

Making the contestants not look like rainbows due to the lighting reflections kept us on our toes. Also, changing floor surfaces changes the amount of light reflected in the space. Where some floors absorb color and light, others bounce and transform the tones. Diffusing and softening the light is just as important as where to aim.

Surface Lights

We didn’t bring the bright objects, but we are used to its challenges. To light up the stage, we used tape and LED strip lighting. In dark areas, the objects become like neon in the 80’s, producing a glow and color splash, creating a focal point for the eye. In bright areas, the light gets dissolved and becomes part of the landscape. The magic is a balance of both.
